Toronto Urban Sketchers is the Toronto chapter of urbansketchers.org, a blog site which features sketches and often equally colorful stories behind the scenes by 100 invited artists correspondents in more than 30 countries around the world. Some are architects and illustrators, others are graphic designers, web developers, painters or educators, all sharing the same passion for drawing on location. If you are interested in purchase or usage of any of their sketches, please contact each artist directly.
The mission of urban sketchers is to raise the artistic, storytelling and educational value of location drawing, promoting its practice and connecting people around the world who draw on location where they live and travel.
We aim to show the world, one drawing at a time.

DeleteHey neighbors! If your're ever in Montreal just let me know
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! And let us know if you're in Toronto as well.
DeleteAs an artist (and instructor) who does a lot of drawing of people in public places I wondered if you were familiar with any resources that clarify the legality/legal boundaries of sketching in public. In an age of rampant photography, phones that take photos, video surveillance of public areas, etc. it seems somewhat odd that there is even a concern or question about people making drawings of other people in public places. The need to know has come up several times. Many thanks for the wonderful drawings you post! Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteHi Vince. Thank you for your comments. I'm not aware of any particular resources concerning this. It's true that compared to photos and videos, sketching is the least invasive but the most obvious since it takes more time. Happy sketching :)
DeleteIf one wanted to arrange an outing and invite sketchers to my neighborhood... what do you need. I am a beginner, but would love to arrange something in the Port Hope area. I have not as yet, joined in a group urban sketching but would love to.
ReplyDeleteHello, how can I become a member? Thanks Zahra
